Drive from Pretoria / Johannesburg to Kuruman with a visit to the Historic Mission station where David Livingstone proposed to mary Moffat. The next day we continue via Upington to the intriguingly named village of Pofadder. From there we make a detour to the charming mission station of Pella on the Orange River then continue to Springbok, spending two nights here. The days are spent on the best roads to see the famed Namaqualand daisies. We then drive via kamisekroon to Calvinia where we spend two nights, visitng Niewoutdville and other areas where there are good displays of flowers. From there we head to Clanwilliam and then to Cape Town. It is possible to break the journey here and fly bak to Johannesburg (cost not included). The main tour continues to Sutherland regarded as the best place in the country for stargazing and home to the South African Astronomical Observatory. After a star filled night we drive via the charming karoo town of Loxton and learm about the Riverine Rabbit Rehabilitation programme in the area, spending the night in the vicinity. We spend a night at the relatively newly established National park at Mokala before heading for Kimberley with visit to local sights.
